Pasay Road Construction Project
Location
Pasay City, Metro Manila, Philippines
Project Type:
Road Construction & Ground Stabilization
Technology Used
TerraMix™ Carbon-Negative Pavement System
Area
70 meters in length and 4 meters in width
About Project
ENSOTECH successfully completed two separate road sections in Pasay City using TerraMix™ pavement technology. The project was designed to demonstrate the versatility and structural performance of TerraMix™ under different ground conditions while eliminating the need for traditional pavement layers.
The first section measured approximately 70 meters in length and 4 meters in width and was constructed directly on a compacted soil subgrade. The second section was installed over a compacted sand subgrade using a TerraMix™ layer approximately 4 centimeters thick.
Both sections were completed without the use of conventional asphalt base courses, crushed aggregate bases, or other structural pavement layers, showcasing TerraMix™ as a simplified and cost-effective road construction solution.
Our Client’s Challenge
The client required a durable road surface that could be installed efficiently while minimizing construction complexity and costs.
Traditional road construction methods often require multiple pavement layers, extensive base preparation, and significant material transportation, resulting in higher costs and longer project timelines.
The project also presented challenging site conditions, including extremely high ambient temperatures during installation and varying subgrade materials ranging from compacted soil to compacted sand. The client needed a solution capable of maintaining structural integrity and performance despite these demanding conditions.
Our Approach And Solution
ENSOTECH utilized TerraMix™ technology to create a durable and resilient road surface without relying on conventional road-building methods.
For the first road section, TerraMix™ was applied directly onto a compacted soil subgrade without the need for asphalt base courses or crushed aggregate layers. The material was produced using a concrete batching plant and transported to the site via dump trucks before installation and compaction.
Despite the extremely high temperatures experienced during construction, the material performed exceptionally well. Since TerraMix™ is mixed and installed at ambient temperatures, no special heating or cooling procedures were required, simplifying the construction process and reducing energy consumption.
The second section was constructed directly over compacted sand using a 4-centimeter TerraMix™ layer. Similar to the first section, the road was opened to traffic immediately after compaction, eliminating delays and ensuring uninterrupted access for local users.
Key Project Benefits
✓ Installed directly on compacted soil and sand subgrades
✓ No asphalt base course required
✓ No crushed aggregate base required
✓ Immediate traffic access after compaction
✓ Excellent performance under high-temperature conditions
✓ Reduced construction complexity and material requirements
✓ Faster project completion
✓ Durable and flexible pavement structure
Project Results
The Pasay project successfully demonstrated TerraMix™’s unique ability to combine flexibility with structural stability.
Despite being installed directly over compacted soil and sand, both road sections continue to perform exceptionally well. The surfaces remain free from cracking, rutting, edge failures, and other common forms of pavement distress typically associated with challenging ground conditions.
The project highlights TerraMix™’s ability to accommodate natural substrate movement while maintaining a durable and stable riding surface. By eliminating conventional base layers and enabling immediate trafficability, the technology delivered significant operational and economic benefits while simplifying the construction process.
Most importantly, the project proved that TerraMix™ can provide a durable, long-lasting, and immediately usable road surface directly over compacted soil or sand, creating new opportunities for cost-effective and sustainable infrastructure development.
What Customers Say?
“The TerraMix™ installation exceeded our expectations. The road was opened to traffic immediately after construction, and the performance has remained excellent despite challenging site conditions and high temperatures. The ability to build directly on compacted soil and sand significantly simplified the project and reduced construction requirements.”
